Four years in the making - our P1 Impact Vests Series.

Why we created a Recycled Chevron Polyester Vest and why you should care?

August 14, 2024

The amount of materials and machinery that goes into producing our Vests is perhaps much larger than the ultimate end product might suggest. So the question naturally arose within our design process team. 'Is there either a recyclable or recycled Neoprene available for us to utilise?'

About 4 years ago, Follow sat down will all our Vests and Wetsuit manufacturers and addressed our concerns. Their response was better than we’d hoped.

“We have been investing in this idea, are you interested in working with us to produce an impact vest made from recycled material that can be used by the Follow customer?" The answer evidently was "Yes". So we set about testing and working with our suppliers, to refine and create a recycled version of a material known as Chevron Polyester.

“We have been investing in this idea, are you interested in working with us to creating a Recyclable material that can be used in waterspouts product?"

What is Recycled Chevron Polyester?

Made out of recycled plastic found in the ocean, each one of our vests has been calculated to have about 80 bottles of recycled plastic utilised in its outer layering fabric. After a few years of testing and developing this fabric in all sorts of conditions, we have finally managed to produce a series of Impact Vests featuring the a Recycled Chevron Polyester that both feel smooth on the skin and remain durable and flexible enough to ensure that no sacrifice need b made from the riders point of view. Providing an Enhanced touch on the skin and a smooth overall finish. This gives it a stretch and freedom of movement that has not been available in the industry until now.
